I sat on the other side of that table for nearly 20 years.

I saw what schools did to save a dollar. I watched children arrive every single day — frustrated, scared, and quietly losing ground — because the system that was supposed to protect them chose budget over children.

As a Behavioral Specialist working inside school districts, I also worked with these same families in their homes. I knew their children. I loved their children.
